We stopped at a field with wierd stones, reminded me of stonehedge.  Some of the holes had holes like this on flat upright slender stones.  It is said that the holes in the rocks were for astronomy in ancient times.  Our driver told us that if you look thru this hole at night, you could see Mars.  We didn't quite know to believe this.  Should we?

We took a taxi again and headed for Yeghegnadzor.  We had to go high in the mountains, so that we were actually in the snow belt.  We had a very hair-raising ride, the worst driver ever here in Armenia!  He would be driving on the left because the potholes were so bad on the right.  So when a car came in the left lane heading towards us, he would make a quick pull back into our own lane.  So we were knocked around in the back seat first right, then left, all the while with our hearts pounding.  And drive FAST, on the switchback mountains, passing cars, almost kissing mirrors.  The potholes were so bad, they almost swallowed our car.  These potholes are the mother of them all, even beats 4th st. in Calumet!  Margie's comment on dodging potholes was "it's like one of those video games!"
