the last of the photos of our trip to colorado for tina hyrkas wedding

This is "samson", who was Estes Park mascot; was used to people, and hung around the park for several years. One day, a man wanted the rack for a trophy, so right outside the gate of the park, he shot samson w. a bow & arrow. the man was caught and was prosecuted. But we saw plenty more samson's around the park! What a magnificent animal!

Elk right by the car

Click to make pic. larger...male elk guarding his "harem"...if one wandered too far from the group, the male would walk toward it, and she would go bk into the group.
We heard them "bugaling" which was great, and saw several pairs of males bucking heads...there were hundreds of elk in this valley.

Click to make pic. larger....ck out the elk wandering all over town!
