skiing

this is swedetown skiing, best in the world, bar none. cross country skiing dates back to who knows when. john karsikas fought the russians in the 20's on skis. people skied  across huge tundras in below 0 temperatures. locally we had finnish ski craftsmen, kukkaa otto of fulton for one. some if his skis are still around and in use. long skis. made from white oak. ellen hyrkas skied from rauhala with her friends to hancock bc because the roads were'nt plowed in those days. but today skiing is not a necessity but a pleasant pastime for many. and the equipment will last a lifetime.
